After a barren draw in regular time, Homabay Combined beat Kisumu Combined 4-2 in post match penalties, lifting the trophy in the Eliud Owalo Super Cup, sponsored by the Eliud Owalo Foundation.
Homabay also walked away with a winners’ cash prize of Ksh. 400,000. Runners up Kisumu Combined took home Ksh. 300,000. Siaya Combined, Ksh. 200,000 and Migori Combined Ksh.100,000.
The tournament saw enormous raw talent that can be nurtured to greater heights, identified. Patron was accompanied in watching the epic duel by Kisumu County Commissioner Hussein Ali Hussein; CAS Eng. Nicholas Gumbo; Senator Prof. Tom Ojienda; SASRA Chairman Jack Ranguma; former Assistant Minister Prof. Ayiecho Olweny; LBDA Chairnan Dianga Waore; AFFA Director Samwel Ongow; Utalii College Director John Odek; former MPs Daima Ochieng and Gor Sungu.
Also present were the Tournament’s Technical Committee Coordinating team members, Tobias Ochola ‘Jua Kali’; James Goro Oronge; Peter Dawo ‘Omuga’ and Gerald Omollo ‘Chonjo’; Gor Mahia FC official Jolawi Obondo; UDA Party officials led by Luke Ouko Kirindo, Tabitha Nyandiek, John Mbadi, Valentine Anyango ‘Toto’; Nick Ondego; and Mourinne Otili;amongst thousands of soccer lover.
In attendance, as well, were a number of Gor Mahia players led by Philemon Otieno, Benson Omala and Sydney Ochieng who have already arrived in Kisumu in readiness for Saturday’s Grand Finale in which Nyanza combined will face off with Gor Mahia FC at the Nyilima Sports ground in Asembo.
